Privacy policy — Dictionary Genie

1. The short version

Dictionary Genie has no user accounts and no sign-in.
It collects no personal data and transmits none to us or to anyone else.
It contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash-reporting service, no advertising and no third-party software development kits.
The entire dictionary is bundled inside the app, so lookups work with no network connection.
Your search history, favorites, lists and notes are stored only on your device, and you can delete them at any time.
Sentence translation is performed on your device by Apple’s Translation framework. We never see what you translate.
Daily reminders are local notifications scheduled by your device. No push server is involved.
In App Store terms, our answer to every data-collection question is “Data Not Collected”.

2. Who we are

Dictionary Genie is published by Omnia Data Analytics LLC (“we”, “us”), a limited liability company registered in the United States. We are the data controller for the purposes of this policy, to the very limited extent that any controller relationship arises at all — as explained below, we do not receive personal data from the app.

3. What the app collects

Nothing. The app contains no code that sends data to us. There is no server component to Dictionary Genie. Specifically, the app does not collect, transmit or have access to:

your name, email address, phone number or any other contact information;
a device identifier, advertising identifier, or any identifier used to track you across apps or websites;
your location, contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera;
the words you look up, the sentences you translate, or anything you save;
usage statistics, session lengths, screen views, taps, or crash reports.

We do not use any third-party analytics, attribution, advertising or crash-reporting SDK. There is no such SDK linked into the app. The app ships with an Apple privacy manifest that declares no tracking and no collected data types.

The one network activity you may notice

Dictionary Genie itself makes no network requests. If you choose to translate a sentence into a language whose model is not yet on your device, iOS — not our app — may ask your permission and then download that language model from Apple. That download is handled entirely by Apple’s Translation framework under Apple’s own privacy policy. We are not a party to it and we receive nothing from it. If you decline, the app keeps working; only sentence translation for that language pair is unavailable.

4. What is stored on your device

The app stores the following locally, in its own container and its App Group container, so that it can work offline and remember your preferences. None of it is uploaded anywhere by us.

Deleting Dictionary Genie from your device removes all of it. Because the app does not use iCloud sync or any account, nothing survives elsewhere. If you have iOS device backups enabled, this local data may be included in your own encrypted backup; that backup belongs to you and Apple, not to us.

5. Translation

Word-level translations shown in the app come from the bundled dictionary; they involve no processing of your input beyond the lookup itself, which happens on device.

Sentence translation uses Apple’s Translation framework, which performs the translation on your device. The app displays an “On device” indicator when it is doing so. The text you type is passed to the system framework on the same device and is not sent to us. Apple’s handling of the Translation framework, including any language-model downloads, is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

6. Notifications

Daily word and phrase reminders are local notifications. Your device schedules and delivers them by itself. There is no push notification service, no device token, and no notification server. The app asks for notification permission only at the moment you turn a reminder on, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.

7. When you contact us

The app’s “Report a problem” and support actions do not transmit anything on their own. They open a pre-filled draft in your own email app, which you can read, edit or discard. Nothing is sent unless you press send yourself. The draft may include the word you were viewing and basic technical details such as the app version, the content pack version and your iOS version, so we can reproduce the problem — you can see all of it before sending and delete anything you would rather not share.

If you do email us, we hold your message and email address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the issue, and we do not use your address for marketing or share it with anyone. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.

8. Purchases

Dictionary Genie is free. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, so there is no purchase or payment information of any kind, and we have no relationship with any payment processor in connection with this app.

9. This website

This site is a set of static files. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party fonts, scripts, pixels or trackers, and does not have a contact form. The only script it serves is a few lines that read a shared word out of the address bar on our link-preview pages; it sends nothing anywhere.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, as a Worker serving static files. As with any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information inherent in serving a page — your IP address, the page requested, your user agent and timestamps — in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. That processing is Cloudflare’s, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy; we do not build profiles from it and we do not receive an analytics product from it.

10. Children

Dictionary Genie is a general-audience reference app and is safe for children to use: it has no accounts, no messaging, no user-generated content, no advertising and no links to social networks. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children either, and there is nothing for a parent to request deletion of on our servers. The app includes a safe-search setting that filters vulgar and offensive labelled content.

11. Your rights

Privacy laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and similar state laws give you rights to access, correct, delete, port and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Those rights attach to data a company holds about you.

We hold none. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so. There is no profile to access and no record to delete, because the app never sends us anything. The data the app creates lives on your device and is entirely under your control: you can view it, edit it and erase it inside the app, and deleting the app erases all of it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app works in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them. We will not retroactively reduce the protections described here for data already on your device.
